Pervouralsky Novotrubny Works (PNTZ), a subsidiary of Russian pipe producer Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant Group (ChTPZ), has announced that it has commissioned a new finishing center aimed at creating new facilities for production and processing of oilfield pipes, such as tubing (including ones with upset ends), casing and oil and gas line pipes.
The investment in the finishing center project, which was started in March 2007, amounted to €132 million. The equipment for the project was delivered by German plantmaker SMS Meer and German equipment supplier EMAG.
The finishing center includes facilities for coupling, for the heat treatment of pipes, for pipe end upset, non-destructive testing of pipes, and for threading of tubings and casings.
The new finishing center will allow PNTZ to increase its output of oilfield pipes to more than 300,000 mt per year, to maintain its position in the oilfield pipes market, and to increase its competiveness.
