According to its customs statistics, in April 2009 Russia increased its exports of semi-finished steel to Turkey by 92.1 percent compared to March 2009, to 245,500 mt. The figure in question is the highest monthly export volume for semis from Russia to Turkey in the last eight months, and represents the highest volume of Russian semis exports to any importing country during the month in question.

In January-April, Russia's semi-finished exports to Turkey amounted to 603,000 mt, up 5.8 percent year on year.

The main semi-finished products exported by Russia to Turkey are square billets or continuous cast slabs of unalloyed steel, in 125-250 mm sizes and of St3sp-St5sp grade.
