Russia’s stainless steel imports down 5.2 percent in October from September

In October this year, Russia’s stainless steel imports totaled 31,270 mt, down by 5.2 percent compared to the previous month, according to Russia-based SpetsStal Association.

In the given month, in terms of volume, Russia’s imports of stainless hot rolled steel, stainless seamless pipes, stainless long steel, stainless welded pipes and stainless wire decreased by 24.1 percent, 20.0 percent, 15.4 percent, 34.8 percent and 9.9 percent respectively. On the other hand, imports of stainless cold rolled steel grew by 0.1 percent month on month.

In October, China, which accounted for 72.3 percent of the total supply, was the main supplier of stainless products to Russia. China was followed by Indonesia with 14.2 percent, India with 8.5 percent and Turkey with 2.1 percent.
