Thai steelmaker Sahaviriya Steel Industries (SSI) has announced its financial results for the first half of the current year, reporting a net loss of THB 600 million ($19.05 million), decreasing from the net loss of THB 6.24 billion registered in the same period of 2015. In the first six months of this year, SSI’s sales and service revenues amounted to THB 8.72 billion ($251.7 million), down 21 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the company’s EBITDA reached THB 3 billion ($86.58 million), compared to the negative EBITDA of THB 5 billion in the first half of the previous year.
In the first half this year, SSI’s sales and service costs decreased by 41 percent year on year to THB 6.3 billion ($182.27 million) due to the decline in raw material and production costs.
