Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel, has announced that it has started deliveries of hot rolled steel products of 09G2 grade to Belarusian-based Minoytovskiy repair plant.
Severstal Cherepovets' 09G2 steel grade possesses higher qualitative characteristics, compared to the 09G2S grade previously used by Minoytovskiy, which is specialized in the production of agricultural machinery. Being a higher-strength rolled product, the sheet of the 09G2 steel grade, manufactured under "strip" technology, will allow the reduction of products' metal content due to the decrease of thickness and weight of structures (in this case agricultural plows); and will thus enable costs to be reduced.
The financial and volume details of the deal have not been disclosed; however, Minoytovskiy repair plant has announced its intention to further increase its purchases from Severstal Cherepovets.
During the first three months of 2009, Severstal's trade company Severstalbel supplied more than 7,600 mt of steel products to Belarusian companies.
