Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal Russian Steel (Severstal), has announced that it is increasing the deliveries of plates manufactured at its mill 5000 for the production of large diameter (LD) pipes.
"In June the deliveries of plates manufactured at Severstal Cherepovets' mill 5000 for the production of LD pipes for trunk pipelines amounted to more than 40,000 mt," Severstal Cherepovets' sales director Dmitry Gorshkov stated.
In August 2009, Severstal Cherepovets plans to output more than 45,000 mt of strips for the production of pipes for Russia's Fuel-Energy Complex, of which about 20,000 mt will be delivered to Severstal's subsidiary Izhora Pipe Plant, while more than 8,000 mt will be supplied to TMK's subsidiary Volzhsky Pipe Plant. In addition, Severstal Cherepovets is to continue deliveries to OMK's Vyksa Steel Works, for which in August it will produce more than 17,000 mt of strips of K60, K52 strength class.
Currently, Severstal Cherepovets's mill 5000 has reached its pre-crisis output level and is operating at full capacity. In July the plant increased its deliveries by three times compared to the beginning of the current year to 50,000 mt of rolled steel products. Among the main consumers of Severstal Cherepovets' strip are Severstal's subsidiary Izhora Pipe Plant, Russian pipe producers TMK and United Metallurgical Company (OMK), as well as machine building companies.
Severstal Cherepovets's mill 5000, with an annual capacity of 850,000 mt , is located at the plant's hot rolling shop No.3. The shop's production capacity will be fully utilized in August and September.
