Severstal continues construction of Sheksna Pipe Works

The Russian steel producer Severstal has started the installation of the main industrial equipment at its new pipe mill, Sheksna Pipe Works, which is located in the Sheksna industrial zone in the Vologodsk region,

Accordingly, the first of Sheksna Pipe Works' six cranes has been already installed at its finished steel products warehouse, and is currently being tested.

Meanwhile, Sheksna Pipe Works continues to receive its main technical equipment, the installation of which is planned to begin after one month.

Sheksna Pipe Works is scheduled to start operations in December 2009, and to reach its designed capacity of 250,000 metric tons of fabricated sections a year in the second half of 2010. Sheksna will produce round, square and rectangular pipes with a range of diameters from 127 mm up to 426 mm. The total investment cost in the mill's construction is expected to exceed $100 million.
