The Russian steel producer Severstal Russian Steel (Severstal) has announced that in the first half of 2009 its deliveries to companies in the Russian construction sector amounted to more than 840,000 mt of steel products.

Meanwhile, since the beginning of the year Severstal Cherepovets, the main steel producing facility of Severstal, supplied more than 700,000 mt of steel products to the domestic construction sector.

Severstal's main customers are metal structures producers, producers of bridge constructions, metro construction companies, construction companies from Moscow and Saint Petersburg, and metal service centers which produce coated steel structures.

"The Russian domestic market continues to be the key one for us one. The construction sector plays a significant role in it. We work in the majority of infrastructural projects, and we hope that the construction sector will be the one which will show  the biggest rate of consumption growth when the economy will start to rebound," Severstal Cherepovets' sales director Dmitry Gorshkov stated.
