Singapore-based steelmaker Meranti Green Steel (MGS) has announced that it is now collaborating with Salzgitter Mannesmann International GmbH (SMID), a subsidiary of Germany-based steelmaker Salzgitter, for the supply of its green hot rolled coil (HRC).

Accordingly, SMID will procure green HRC from MGS for distribution to its steel service centers in Germany, the EU and eastern Europe. MGS will provide green HRC from its Rayong plant in Thailand, which is scheduled to be operational in mid-2028.

The Singaporean steelmaker stated that the agreement signed with SMID will further increase confidence in its capabilities to supply green HRC to the EU under the Cross Border Adjustment Mechanism.

In March this year, MGS had unveiled a similar collaboration with Germany-based steel importer INTERFER Edelstahl Handelsgesellschaft mbH, as SteelOrbis reported previously.
