Friday, 26 December 2008 10:48:23 (GMT+3)   |
Austria-based plantmaker SMS Demag Process Technologies has announced the receipt of an order from German group ThyssenKrupp, which specializes in steel production, capital goods and services, for the supply of the world's largest hydrochloric acid regeneration plant for a new integrated rolling mill of its subsidiary ThyssenKrupp Steel USA in Calvert, state of Alabama.

The regeneration plant, which is scheduled to be commissioned in April 2010, is designed to annually recondition 150,000 m3 of contaminated hydrochloric acid, produced during the chemical descaling of four million mt of hot rolled plates each year.

Besides having low emission values, this plant is distinguished by considerable savings in energy consumption and by low operating and maintenance costs.

The financial details have not been disclosed.
