SMS to modernize CSC’s continuous slab caster No. 4 at Kaohsiung

Germany-based plantmaker SMS Group has announced that it will revamp Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation’s (CSC) continuous slab caster No. 4 at Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The commissioning of the caster is is scheduled for the end of this year.
 
As part of the modernization, SMS Group will also supply a mold monitoring system for temperature monitoring and a breakout prediction system, which will recognize any occurring breakdown at a very early stage, allowing preventive measures to be taken.
