South African iron ore exports expected to be lower in 2018 year-on-year

According to South Africa Customs data, South Africa exported 66.47 million mt of iron ore in 2017. In the January to November 2018 period, South Africa exported 58.01 million mt of iron ore according to customs provisional data, 4 percent lower than the 60.56 million mt in the same period the previous year. With an estimated 5.75 million mt of iron ore in December 2018, the total iron ore exports of close to 64 million mt is expected to be 4 percent lower than the total iron ore exports in 2017.
