In the second quarter of the current year, South Africa's seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) decreased by 0.7 percent quarter on quarter, while the country's unadjusted GDP rose by 0.4 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, according to the detailed statistics released by Statistics South Africa.
In the first half of this year, South Africa's unadjusted GDP grew by 0.6 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the second quarter of this year the country's manufacturing sector registered a decrease of 0.3 percent in output from the previous quarter. The majority of the ten manufacturing divisions reported negative growth rates in the second quarter, including the motor vehicles, parts and accessories and the furniture and ‘other’ manufacturing divisions.
