In the third quarter of the current year, South Africa's seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 2.2 percent quarter on quarter, while the country's unadjusted GDP rose by 1.1 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year, according to the detailed statistics released by Statistics South Africa.
In the January-September period of this year, South Africa's unadjusted GDP grew by 0.8 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the third quarter of this year the country's manufacturing sector registered an increase of 7.5 percent in output from the previous quarter. According to the report, notable increases in the third quarter were reported by the basic iron and steel, metal products and machinery division, by wood, paper and publishing, by petroleum, chemical products, rubber and plastic products, and by motor vehicles, parts and accessories and other transport equipment, quarter on quarter.
