Steel service center shipments increase in US in August

Steel service center shipments increased in the United States and their decline slowed dramatically in Canada in August, according to a report today from the Metals Service Center Institute.
 
In August 2016, US service center steel shipments increased by 2.1 percent from August 2015. Steel product inventories decreased 14.5 percent from August a year ago.
 
Meanwhile, Canadian service center shipments of steel products decreased by 6.1 percent in August 2016 from August 2015. Steel product inventories decreased 18.0 percent from August a year ago.
