Cobra IS, a subsidiary of France-based energy and construction company VINCI, has announced that it will take part in the construction of a direct reduced iron (DRI) plant by German steelmaker Thyssenkrupp in Duisburg within the scope of a €74 million contract.

Accordingly, the company will provide the piping and mechanical works for the plant, which will have a DRI production capacity of 2.5 million mt per year. Based solely on green hydrogen, this project will allow Thyssenkrupp to reduce its carbon emissions by up to 3.5 million mt per year.
