In Sweden, industrial production increased by three percent in April this year compared to March and by 0.6 percent year on year in working day-adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB).
On the other hand, the production index for the Swedish basic metal industry increased by 2.4 percent in April this year compared to the previous month, while decreasing by 0.8 percent year on year. In the month in question, the country's manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, decreased by 1.9 month on month and by 1.1 percent compared to April 2013. Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, basic metal production in the country increased by 2.4 and manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, rose by 3.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
On month-on-month basis, new orders for Swedish industry registered a decrease of 1.3 percent in April of the current year, while new orders in the given month decreased by one percent in working day-adjusted figures compared to April 2013.
In April this year, new orders for basic metals in Sweden fell by 36.2 percent compared to the same month of 2013, including a 5.8 percent increase in domestic orders and a 45.4 percent decline in export orders, while new basic metals orders were up 12.8 percent compared to March. Meanwhile, new orders for the Swedish fabricated metal products industry, except machinery and equipment, increased by 4.3 percent in April on year-on-year basis.
