Swedish basic metal output up 5.2 percent in January from December

In Sweden, industrial production increased by 0.6 percent in January this year compared to the previous month and increased by 4.6 percent year on year in working day-adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB).
 
On the other hand, the production index for the Swedish basic metal industry rose by 5.2 percent in January this year compared to the previous month, while rising by 11.8 percent year on year. In the given month, the country's manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, increased by 1.8 percent month on month and was up by 3.7 year on year.
 
On month-on-month basis, new orders for Swedish industry increased by 1.6 percent in January while new orders in the given month rose by 3.8 percent in working day-adjusted figures compared to January 2015.
 
In January of the current year, new orders for basic metals in Sweden declined by 2.1 percent compared to the same month of 2015, including a 1.3 percent increase in domestic orders and a 2.6 percent decrease in export orders, while new orders for basic metals were up by 1.6 percent compared to December. Meanwhile, new orders for the Swedish fabricated metal products industry, except machinery and equipment, increased by 28.6 percent in January on year-on-year basis.
