According to the latest data released by the Swedish Steel Producers' Association (Jernkontoret), in July this year Swedish crude steel production amounted to 162,000 metric tons, decreasing by 40.7 percent year on year and down strongly as compared to 385,200 mt of crude steel output recorded in June this year.
In the first seven months of 2012, Swedish crude steel production totaled 2.65 million mt, with a decrease of 13.5 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
In the first half of this year, Swedish steel plant deliveries of finished steel products including plate, strip, wire, rod, profiles and tubes and excluding blooms and billets amounted to 2.2 million mt, falling 15.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Meanwhile, in the first five months of the current year Sweden's exports of finished steel, including blooms and billets, amounted to 1.6 million mt, down 8.9 percent compared to the same period of 2011. Swedish finished steel imports in the first five months also totaled 1.6 million mt, down 4.6 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
