Taiwan's industrial production index in April this year decreased by 5.98 percent compared to March and was down 4.06 percent year on year, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in April decreased 0.8 percent compared to the previous month, while falling by 2.8 percent year on year.
In the first four months of this year, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index decreased by 4.5 percent year on year.
In April this year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing sector fell by 3.9 percent and output of metal product manufacturing saw a decrease of 7.4 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in April this year output of the basic metal manufacturing sector grew by 0.3 percent and the metal product manufacturing sector saw a decrease of 8.3 percent in output.
Meanwhile, in April this year, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry fell by 17.7 percent, while output in the automotive industry was down by 7.2 percent, both year on year.
