Taiwan's industrial production index in May this year increased by 5.7 percent compared to April and was up 1.9 percent year on year, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in May increased 2.5 percent compared to the previous month, while rising by 2.2 percent year on year.
In the first five months of this year, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index decreased by 3.09 percent year on year.
In May this year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing sector rose by 4.6 percent and output of metal product manufacturing saw an increase of 6.04 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in May this year output of the basic metal manufacturing sector grew by 3.5 percent and the metal product manufacturing sector saw an increase of 4.7 percent in output.
Meanwhile, in May this year, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry fell by 12.6 percent, while output in the automotive industry was down by 0.9 percent, both year on year.
