Taiwan’s CSC sees decline in 2011 steel output

Taiwan's largest steelmaker China Steel Corporation (CSC) has announced that in December last year its steel production volume totaled 629,194 metric tons, declining 9.4 percent month on month and down 21.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. In 2011, CSC produced 8.7 million mt of steel, down 9.9 percent compared to 2010.
     
In December, CSC's sales volume was 703,221 metric tons, decreasing by eight percent as compared to November this year and rising 11 percent year on year. CSC's sales volume for the whole year decreased to 9.1 million mt, down 7.4 percent year on year.

In the month in question, the steelmaker's sales revenues amounted to NTD 17.41 billion ($581 million), down 12.7 percent month on month and 9.2 percent year on year. In 2011, sales revenues of the company reached NTD 234.41 billion ($7.8 billion), increasing by 8.8 percent year on year.
