According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, Taiwan's iron and steel export value in October this year amounted to $1.66 billion, increasing by 6.8 percent compared to September and up 15 percent compared to the same month of 2010, while its metal product export value totaled $911.9 million, up 4.1 percent compared to the previous month and up 14.8 percent compared to the same month of 2010.
In the first 10 months of this year, Taiwan's iron and steel export value increased 20.3 percent over the same period last year amounting to $16.23 billion, while its metal product export value totaled $9.23 billion in the January-October period this year, increasing by 17.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, in October Taiwan's iron and steel import value decreased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month and was up 13.1 percent year on year to $1.14 billion, and its metal product import value came to $1.03 billion, up 12.5 percent month on month and up 0.7 percent compared to the same month last year.
