At the 5th SteelOrbis Turkish Steel Market Conference held in Istanbul on November 26, Turkish steelmaker and service center Tat Metal executive Asuman Gursoy gave a presentation regarding her company's activities and investments.

Gursoy said that Tat Metal has successfully got over the global financial crisis through high quality management and accurate predictions. The executive also pointed out that her company commissioned a cold rolling and galvanizing line established by 100 percent Turkish capital during this tough period.

In the presentation, it was also indicated that Tat Metal will inaugurate its third steel service center next year in Bursa, while a fourth service center project is also on the table and a feasibility study for a coating line has been completed.

Gursoy, who stressed the importance of shifting the company's product structure to high-end products according to market demand, also stated that Tat Metal's flat steel production processes are in line with environmental requirements at all levels.

She said that the Tat Steel guarantees its quality standards with TSE certifications, adding that the company contributes to the Turkish economy with the labor force of 400 which it employs.

Revealing that Tat Metal's production methodology is based totally on customer orders and also that it mostly operates at full capacity utilization, Asuman Gursoy said that this has a positive effect in terms of decreased stock costs but has a negative impact in terms of long lead times.

The executive said that, in addition to the 37 export markets in which Tat Metal is currently active, the company is still searching for new markets especially in the North African and European regions.
