Indian steelmaker Tata Steel’s European division Tata Steel Europe will reduce its production in the Netherlands and Britain amid decreasing demand after many automotive plants in Europe have been shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak, according to a media report by Reuters.

The company stated that it will reduce liquid steel production but will maintain operations of all four blast furnaces in IJmuiden, the Netherlands, and Port Talbot, Wales. The company did not disclose by how much production would be cut.

Meanwhile, Liberty Steel Group, owned by global industrial group GFG Alliance, said that GFG continues to adjust production to demand on a plant by plant basis, giving the highest priority to its employees’ safety.
