Tata Steel granted environment clearance of expansion of Jamshedpur steel mill

Indian federal Ministry of Environment and Forests granted the final environment clearance to Tata Steel for expansion of its steel mills at Jamshedpur in eastern province of Jharkhand, a government official said on Thursday, March 03.

He said that Tata Steel was granted the clearance for its $280 million expansion project subject to certain mandatory provisions including creating a green belt around the expanded plant site.

Tata Steel’s Jamshedpur steel mill had sought environment clearance for expanding its crude steel production to 11 million ton per year from 9.7 million ton per year.
