Indian steel giant Tata Steel’s Thai subsidiary Tata Steel Thailand has announced that the temporary suspension of mini blast furnace operations at N.T.S. Steel Group Public Company Limited, subsidiary of Tata Steel Thailand, will be continued until March 31, 2017.

The furnace was temporarily closed in August 2011 due to high raw material prices which led to a higher operations cost at N.T.S. Tata Steel Thailand stated that during the closure period N.T.S. Steel Group Public Company Limited will continue to operate normally by using scrap in the electric arc furnace instead of hot metal from the mini blast furnace.
