Italy-based Tenova, a Techint Group company specialized in innovative solutions for the metals and mining industries, has announced that it will supply an electric arc furnace with Consteel® technology to Luxembourg-based steel tube producer Tenaris to be installed at the latter’s Campana plant in Argentina.
The new electric arc furnace, which will have an annual production capacity of 950,000 mt of liquid steel for seamless pipe manufacturing, will replace one of the two existing electric arc furnaces and will result in the same productivity of the two existing electric arc furnaces combined.
“The Consteel Furnace is part of a series of investment projects that will allow us not only to continue adding productive capacity in our steel shop, but also to reduce the carbon emission intensity of our steel process. Together, with the use of the renewable electricity from the wind farm we are building in Argentina, it will result in a significant reduction of our carbon footprint, in line with our 2030 decarbonization goal,” Javier Martínez Álvarez, president for Tenaris Southern Cone, said.
