Ternium sees decline in Mexican, South American sales in Q4, 2015

Steelmaker Ternium saw net sales in both its Mexico and Southern Region segments decline in Q4, the company said.

According to the steelmaker, net sales in Q4 in Mexico declined 22 percent, year-on-year, to $954.2 million, while in the Southern Region market sales totaled $650.3 million, 3 percent down year-on-year.

The Southern Region operating segment manages the company’s businesses in Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia and Uruguay.

In Q4, steel shipments in Mexico totaled 1.4 million mt, 1 percent down year-on-year. In the Southern Region segment steel shipments were stable at 643,600 mt in Q4.

As for the company’s full-year results, net sales in the Mexico segment in 2015 reached $4.3 billion, 10 percent down year-on-year. In the Southern Region net sales totaled $2.5 billion in 2015, 3 percent down year-on-year.

Steel shipments in the full-year analysis rose 5 percent year-on-year in Mexico to 5.9 million mt, and 2.5 million mt in the Southern Region, up 2 percent.
