The World Trade Organization (WTO) committee on safeguards has announced that on February 4 Thailand initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of structural hot rolled H-beam with alloy upon the complaint lodged by local producer Siam Yamato Steel Company Limited, which claimed that imports of the product in question have caused or threaten to cause serious injury to the domestic industry in the form of a decline in market share, sales volume, productivity and capacity utilization.

The goods in question are currently classified under Harmonized System Code Numbers 7228.70.10000 and 7228.70.90000.
