Russia-based TMK, one of the world's leading oil and gas steel pipe producers announced that it has established a service center joint venture with UAE-based EMDAD in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

The service and support center, Threading and Mechanical Key Premium LLC, will focus on repair of pipes and underground equipment, as well as threading of connections on various components of pipe columns for oil and gas companies operating in the Arabian Gulf region.

According to TMK's statement, the total investment in the project is approximately $3.5 million. The service center is scheduled to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2013. Its annual production capacity will stand at approximately 10,000 mt of premium pipes.

TMK Middle East, the sales subsidiary of the pipe producer, has been working in the region for several years already. As SteelOrbis previously reported, in December 2012, TMK acquired a controlling stake in Gulf International Pipe Industry L.L.C. (GIPI) in Oman.
