Russia's largest oil and gas pipe producer TMK has announced that it has begun shipments of longitudinal welded large diameter (LD) pipes to Turkmengaz State Concern for the Central Karakum-Yylanly compressor station pipeline project in Turkmenistan.

Accordingly, during May-August 2009 TMK is to deliver 28,000 mt of 720 mm K55 pipe with 8 mm wall thickness, and with external anticorrosion coating which improves reliability and increases lifespan.

Turkmengaz's new pipeline will run from the Central Karakum gas deposit to the Yylanly compressor station in the Dashoguz province, connecting gas fields in Turkmenistan's desert region with the republic's network and the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline system. TMK was chosen as the sole supplier of pipes for this project.
