Russia's largest oil and gas pipe producer TMK has announced that its TMK GF premium connections have been successfully tested at Gazprom's scientific-research institute of natural gases and gas technologies, VNIIGAZ.

Accordingly, the testing, which included tension and compression tests, was performed on TMK GF premium casing with 168 mm outside diameter and 10.6 mm wall thickness, produced at TMK's subsidiary TMK-Premium Service from T95SS steel grade, for use in sour operating environments.

Following VNIIGAZ's tests which replicate the complex geological structure found in the Astrakhan gas condensate field in the Precaspian Basin, the sour service premium connections will now undergo field testing in the Astrakhan gas condensate field, known for its demanding operating environment and dependency on imported premium pipes.
