Despite not being a top destination for Turkish exporters, the Turkish Steel Exporters Association is eyeing the Dominican Republic as a potential market, according to a local media report.
Dominican Republic media said representatives of the Turkish Steel Exporters Association are seeing room for an increase in the exports of Turkish steel to the Latin American country.
“Despite representing 0.03 percent of the [Turkish steel exports] and being the No. 75 in our list of countries to do business with, we see a great potential in the Dominican Republic and we want to expand our relations [with the country],” said Namik Ekinci, president of Turkish Steel Exporters Association, while talking to local media Listin Diario.
Currently, the commission of trade defense (CDC) of the Dominican Republic is evaluating the suspension of AD duties over the imports of steel rods and bars from Turkey.
If approved, the move could give space for Turkish exporters to export steel to the country.
