According to a statement published in the country’s Official Gazette, Turkey has launched an antidumping investigation on hot rolled coil from China, India, Japan and Russia.
The investigation has started upon the application made by the Turkish Steel Producers’ Association on behalf of domestic producers Çolakoğlu Metalurji AŞ, Ereğli Demir ve Çelik Fabrikaları TAŞ, İskenderun Demir ve Çelik AŞ, Habaş Sınai ve Tıbbi Gazlar İstihsal Endüstrisi AŞ and Tosçelik Profil ve Sac Endüstrisi AŞ.
The investigation covers the period between January 1, 2020, and June 6, 2023.
In the light of the evidence submitted during the application period and the findings presented based on the data in the trade ministry’s database on imports, it has been determined that allegedly dumped HRC from China, India, Japan and Russia caused financial damage or posed a threat of financial damage in the domestic market.
Market participants in Turkey have lately raised their concerns about rising HRC imports, especially from China, and have asked for appropriate measures to be implemented. Meanwhile, with there being a likelihood that most Asian suppliers will stay out of the Turkish market, Vietnam sees a chance in their absence. Major Vietnamese players believe that they may be able to claim some share in the import HRC market in Turkey.
