Turkey's automotive sales up 10.6 percent in May from April

In May this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 15.16 percent year on year and were up by 10.6 percent month on month to 93,904 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey increased by 17.42 percent year on year and were up by 12.5 percent month on month to 73,832 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles increased by 7.54 percent year on year and were up by 4.1 percent month on month to 20,072 units.
 
Meanwhile, in the January-May period this year domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw a slight increase of 0.26 percent year on year, amounting to 347,277 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country increased by 2.8 percent to 267,371 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles fell by 7.42 percent to 79,906 units, both on year-on-year basis.
