Turkey's automotive sales up 22.2 percent in August from July

In August this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey decreased by 13.35 percent year on year and were up by 22.2 percent month on month to 71,556 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey decreased by 12.6 percent year on year and were up by 18.45 percent month on month to 53,977 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles decreased by 15.6 percent year on year and were up by 35.6 percent month on month to 17,579 units.
 
Meanwhile, in the January-August period of this year domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw a decrease of 5.02 percent year on year, amounting to 568,906 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country decreased by 3.5 percent to 438,025 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles fell by 9.8 percent to 130,881 units, both on year-on-year basis.
