Turkey’s billet imports down 90 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by four percent month on month to 34,953 mt, down by 90 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $18.9 million, down 6.06 percent month on month and down 89.8 percent year on year.

In the given period, Turkey imported 22,783 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, down 89.95 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of Georgia which supplied 6,900 mt in the given period.
