Turkey’s billet imports up 23.8 percent in H1

In June this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 56.4 percent year on year to 522,673 mt, up 13.8 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $190.95 million, up 45 percent year on year and rising by 27 percent compared to the previous month.

In the January-June period this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 23.8 percent year on year to 2.7 million mt, while the value of these imports totaled $836 million, down 7.8 percent year on year.
 
In the first six months of this year, Turkey imported 919,649 mt of billet and bloom from Russia, up 7.64 percent year on year, with Russia ranking as Turkey's leading billet and bloom import source, ahead of China which supplied 789,574 mt in the given period.
