Turkish steelmaker Borçelik Çelik Sanayi Ticaret A.Ş. has ordered a new cold strip complex from Italian plantmaker Danieli for its plant, which will be constructed in Gemlik, Bursa, according to a statement released by the latter.
Consisting of a pickling line and tandem cold mill (PLTCM) line, as well as a continuous galvanizing and annealing (CGAL) line, the new complex will cater to the demand from the automotive and construction sectors.
The PLTCM line will have a capacity of 1.6 million mt per year, with the option of boosting it to 2 million mt per year in the future, processing hot rolled strips with widths of up to 1,895 mm and 1.80 mm-6.00 mm in thickness into cold strips of 0.3 mm- 3.00 mm in thickness for automotive and construction products.
On the other hand, having a capacity of 500,000 mt per year, the CGAL line will apply optimal zinc coating.
Danieli stated that the PLTCM and CGAL lines will be commissioned by August 2026 and September 2026, respectively.
In May this year, the environmental impact assessment process for the project had begun, as SteelOrbis reported previously.
