Turkey’s Çemtaş gets environmental approval for solar power plant in Kars

Turkey’s Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has announced that the examination and evaluation process within the scope of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) application made by Bursa-based Turkish steelmaker Çemtaş Çelik Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş (Çemtaş) for its solar power plant project in Kars has been completed and that it has granted approval for the project.

Within the scope of the project with an investment cost of TRY 850.82 million ($25.77 million), a total of 77,302 photovoltaic panels will be installed. The plant with a capacity of 32 MWe is expected to generate about 66.6 million kW of energy per year. Also, 119 inverters will be built at the plant.

The project’s lifespan is expected to be 50 years.
