Turkey's coking coal imports remain stable in January-May

In May this year, Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 542,910 mt, falling by 8.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and up 70.4 percent month on month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports was $45.5 million, up 65.4 percent compared to April and falling by 31.3 percent year on year.

In the first five months, Turkey's coking coal imports remained unchanged at 2.2 million mt, while the value of these imports decreased by 23.2 percent to $196.3 million, both year on year.
 
In the given period, Turkey's coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 1,142,889 mt, while coking coal imports from Canada totaled 591,978 mt.
