Turkey’s Çolakoğlu Metalurji to improve product quality with ABB’s EMS for EAF

Tuesday, 17 December 2024 12:19:52 (GMT+3)   |   Istanbul

Turkish steelmaker Çolakoğlu Metalurji has ordered an electromagnetic stirrer (EMS) for its electric arc furnace (EAF) from Switzerland-based energy and automation technology provider ABB, according to a statement released by the latter.

As part of the agreement, ABB’s patented ArcSave® EMS will be installed at Çolakoğlu’s 370-ton EAF, the largest EAF in Turkey supplied by UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies.

This way, the Turkish steelmaker will not only increase its productivity and sustainability, reduce its costs and curtail its process time, but also improve the quality of its various products, including slab, hot rolled coil, billet and rebar.
