Turkey’s export and import value indices for manufacture of metals fall in June

According to the foreign trade indices released by Turkish Statistical Institute (TUİK), produced by the provisional foreign trade data, in June 2009, the export unit value index for the mining of metal ores decreased by 55.25 percent to 164.2 points, while the export unit value index for the manufacture of basic metals declined by 50.74 percent to 157.9 points, both compared to June 2008. (2003 = 100)

Meanwhile, in June 2009, the import unit value index for the mining of metal ores declined by 30.72 percent to 354.4 points, while the import unit value index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 33.41 percent to 186.3 points, both compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the month in question, the export volume index for the mining of metal ores increased by 5.3 percent to 384.9 points, while the export volume index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 9.75 percent to 188.7 points, both compared to the corresponding month of 2008.

At the same time, in June 2009, the import volume index for the mining of metal ores increased by 50.92 percent to 179.9 points, while the import volume index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 39 percent to 100.5 points, both compared to the same month of the previous year.

On the other hand, in the month in question, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by 46.07 percent year on year to 162.7 points.
