According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in July this year Turkey's total hot rolled flat steel exports amounted to 34,203 metric tons, decreasing by 35.1 percent compared to the previous month and down significantly compared to the 209,846 mt recorded in July 2011. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $25.2 million, falling by 32.8 percent compared to June this year and down 84.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.
Turkey's hot rolled flat steel exports in the first seven months of the current year totaled 576,386 mt, decreasing by 55 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
HR flat steel exports to Italy, which was the largest hot rolled flat steel export destination of Turkey in 2011 accounting for 44 percent of total Turkish HR flat steel exports, decreased by 82.5 percent in the first seven months of the current year compared to the same period of 2011.
On the other hand, in July Turkey's cold rolled flat steel exports stood at 3,684 metric tons, decreasing by 26.7 percent compared to the previous month and down 77.6 percent year on year. In the first seven months of the current year, the country's cold rolled flat steel exports fell 38.4 percent compared to January-July 2011, amounting to 50,559 metric tons.
