Turkey’s HRC imports up 45 percent in January-February

In February this year, Turkey's total hot rolled coil (HRC) imports increased by 21.4 percent month on month to 336,070 metric tons, up 36.5 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). These imports had a value of $103.03 million, falling 20.5 percent compared to January and down 20 percent year on year.


 
In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's HRC imports amounted to 763,514 mt, rising by 45 percent, while the value from these imports decreased by 18 percent to $232.8 million, both compared to the same period of the previous year.
 
In the January-February period of this year, Russia ranked first among Turkey's HRC import sources, with its HRC exports to Turkey amounting to 309,591 mt, up 94.82 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, followed by the UK which shipped 100,149 mt of HRC to Turkey in the given period.
