In January this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 599,226 metric tons, falling 28 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports amounted to $37 million, down 58 percent year on year.
In January of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 190,603 mt, down 58.23 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Russia which supplied 174,998 metric tons, while Turkey's iron ore imports from South Africa in the given period amounted to 165,249 metric tons in the given month.
