In August this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 1.08 million mt, rising by 25 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 28.8 percent to $103.89 million compared to August 2017.
In the January-August period, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 7.16 million mt, down 3.4 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 5.3 percent to $660.73 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 2,981,771 mt, down 3.5 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 1,339,901 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Russia in the given period amounted to 760,798 mt.
