In June this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports totaled 723,137 mt, rising by 17.3 percent compared to May and declining by 42.4 percent compared to the same month of 2022, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports was down by 51.1 percent year on year and up by 20.3 percent month on month to $101.45 million.
In the first six months of this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports amounted to 3.59 million mt, falling by 34.6 percent, while the value of these imports moved down by 43.1 percent to $463.02 million, both compared to same period of 2022.
In the given period, Turkey’s iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 2.45 million mt, up 6.6 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 654,782 mt, while Turkey’s iron ore imports from Russia in the same period amounted to 160,944 mt.
