In July this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 946,108 mt, up 13.7 percent month on month and increasing by 17.4 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports increased by 0.8 percent to $61.6 million compared to the previous month and was up 14.8 percent year on year.
In the first seven months of this year, Turkey's iron ore imports increased by 9.8 percent to 6.3 million mt, while revenues from these imports decreased by 18.5 percent to $403.5 million, both year on year.
In the January-July period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 3.2 million mt, up 26.17 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Russia which supplied 1.15 million mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Sweden in the given period amounted to 831,655 mt.
